Kirtan in Princeton
February 11th, 2009We rang in the New Year at Radha Govinda Mandir with kirtan, and spent the first day of the New Year doing kirtan in Princeton, NJ. It was the first time that I was able to attend the program, even though the devotees there have the program monthly. The room was small but we were able to fit enough devotees in it to have a rocking kirtan that everyone was able to enjoy.
For a few hours that day there was nothing but kirtan and no one wanted it to end. We were all able to simply tune into the holy name and watch as it transformed us and our daily lives into something extraordinary. At the end of the program, different devotees talked about how enlivened they were by this program that happens. Some of them may not have temples close by or may not be able to get to them, so these programs are the way that they are able to get their association. Some simply talked about how these kirtan programs helped to re-energize them so that they would be able to handle the things that come at them during a normal week. Kirtan is able to do that and more. I always think that we never know just how kirtan is affecting the lives of those around us. It was nice to be able to hear first hand just what people thought about the kirtan and what a positive influence it was able to make in their lives.
All Glories to Kirtan!
